Dr. Waridibo Allison appointed to CPH faculty

Picture2The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s College of Public Health has announced the appointment of Waridibo Allison, MD, PhD, FACP, CPE, FIDSA as professor in the Department of Health Administration & Health Policy effective Jan. 1, 2025.

Dr. Allison is an esteemed physician-scientist researcher, clinician and physician-executive. She currently serves as vice president of health policy and founding executive director of the ÐÔÅ«µ÷½Ì Center for Health Policy within the Division of Research and Innovation. Allison is nationally renowned for her work including leveraging telementoring to improve health systems, provide health workforce development and support, facilitate community education and mitigate access barriers to healthcare. She led a Health Resources and Services Administration funded Special Project of National Significance to cure hepatitis C in people of color with HIV. Allison has devoted her career to being a provider of high-quality clinical care and to discovery, implementation and evaluation of innovative health solutions. Through her programs, projects and initiatives, she has made a substantial impact on communities across Texas and the nation. Allison serves as principal investigator/program director and recipient of more than 15 million dollars of continuous, primarily federal extramural funding for her work over the last several years. She is committed to teaching and mentoring and was named a 2024 finalist for the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.

Allison holds a PhD in public health and community medicine from the Kirby Institute at the University of New South Wales, Australia.  Her substantial qualifications additionally include a Bachelor of Science in Anatomical Sciences from the University of Dundee in Scotland, a medical degree from Imperial College School of Medicine, London and certification as a physician executive from the American Association for Physician Leadership. She completed internal medicine residency at New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell, infectious disease fellowship at New York University and American Board of Internal Medicine specialty certification in Internal Medicine and subspecialty certification in infectious disease.
